Dr. Josephine A. Smith, DNP, FNP-C, PMHNP-BC

Dr. Josephine A. Smith brings a warm and welcoming approach to treating patients.  In 2003, she completed her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from Seton Hall University. Dr. Smith’s nursing experience includes, medical/surgical, oncology, critical care, and homecare. She attained her Masters of Science in Nursing from the University of Medicine and Dentistry in 2010 and was inducted into Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. She was subsequently certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).  As a Family Nurse Practitioner, Dr. Smith treated patients in both outpatient and home care settings. She was also the director of a medical clinic in Bayonne, NJ for several years. In 2019, she earned her Doctorate of Nursing Practice from Rutgers University.

Dr. Smith felt the need to better serve her patients’ mental health needs. This led her to pursue a certification in psychiatry.  In 2020, she completed a Post Master’s Certificate in Psychiatric Mental Health from Maryville University. She is certified as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Dr. Smith is licensed to treat patients in New Jersey.
