Carmen Cortez, LSW

Carmen Cortez, LSW graduated from Rutgers University with a master’s degree in social work. Most recently, she has worked in the community with adults with severe and persistent mental illnesses. She has worked to help clients manage everyday stress and work through major life changes. Working in the community also included connecting clients to community resources and advocating for client’s needs. Carmen has also facilitated individual and group therapy within an intensive outpatient program. She has worked with individuals from various backgrounds and strives to tailor treatment to each individual’s needs. With a compassionate and understanding approach, Carmen utilizes CBT (cognitive- behavioral therapy) and mindfulness techniques to assist clients in developing coping strategies. Carmen believes in creating a safe environment where clients can share and explore their unique stories.
