Donna Gapas, LCSW

Donna Gapas is a LCSW specializing in individual, couples and family therapy. With over 30 years of experience as a leader and therapist, and as a graduate of Hunter College specializing in mental health and group therapy, she is a seasoned practitioner working with a broad spectrum of clients. Among her areas of expertise are the treatment of trauma, anxiety disorders, depression, addiction and grief. In addition to being a therapist, Donna Gapas has presented at National conferences and to general audiences speaking on topics of Aging, Addiction, Crisis Intervention, Family Dynamics and Cultural Diversity. She is a part-time lecturer at Rutgers University, Graduate School of Social Work teaching courses on Adult Violence, Human Behavior, Social Welfare Policy and Diversity and Oppression. She is a trainer for Adult Protective Services certification courses for the State of NJ. In addition, she is a trainer for the Institute for Families at Rutgers University Continuing Education Program specializing in topics related to aging, family therapy, leadership and cultural competence and clinical skills. Donna Gapas is an interactive therapist. Her therapeutic approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges. She integrates evidenced-based, trauma-informed care methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client. With compassion and understanding, she works with each individual to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing.
